The Mazzer Mini was originally designed for commercial use but with today’s high-end kitchens and discriminating customers, the Mazzer Mini has moved into the home. The Mazzer Mini feature infinite adjustments, a quiet 250 watt direct drive motor, and large 58 mm. burrs are made of 100% Swedish hardened steel. The Mini can be adjusted to dispense anywhere from 5.5 grams to 9 grams with each pull of the dispensing handle. The Mazzer Mini is now available with the timer control. The timer can be set for up to 60 seconds of continuous grinding. This is also a safety feature as this grinder is nearly silent when running without beans in the hopper. You will not be able to leave it on by accident. The machine is easy to access for cleaning and calibration. The bean hopper can be removed with the beans still in it allowing you to easily swap beans. It weighs 22 pounds, and is incredibly well engineered.

===Adjusting Grind First Time===
+

+
When setting up the machine for the first use the grind should be set to a coarse setting before adding beans into the hopper. Starting the grind out on a fine sitting can result in the grinder becoming blocked or the beans not feeding into the machine properly. In extreme cases, where the burrs are set close enough to touch each other, it can strain the motor and damage the machine.
+

+
Once the grinder is set to a coarse setting beans can be added into the hopper. Adjustments in the fine direction should only be made while the burrs are grinding to prevent jams or damage to the burrs or motor assembly.

===Seasoning The Burrs===
+

+
If the grinder is new, or the burrs have been recently replaced, the grinder will need to be seasoned. New burrs need time to wear in to a point where they will perform consistently. For most machines it will take at least 4-6 lbs. of coffee for the burrs to become properly seasoned. Conical burrs will take more time to be seasoned than flat burrs.

Find the Right Grind

  1. Grind coffee into the portafilter.
  2. Lock the portafilter into the brew group.
  3. Lift the brew lever all the way up.
    • Aim for 2 to 2.5 oz. in about 25 seconds.
  4. Drink your shot to test.
  5. Repeat until properly motivated to get work done.

The big secret to finding that exact flavor you're after, that big punch-in-the-mouth feel, is dialing in your grind. For a basic rule-of-thumb, a coarser grind makes for a lighter, fluffier coffee, and a finer grind makes for a more intense, flavorful espresso. Check out the video on the right for more info.
